The Story of

Sarah’s Cookie Jar

The story of Sarah’s Cookie Jar began in the 1970s when my parents were newlyweds and my dad asked my mom if she would bake him some chocolate chip cookies for a little comfort food.

She referenced her trusty Better Homes and Gardens cookbook, found a recipe, tweaked it to make it her own, and Sarah’s cookies were born.

She really, brought it to life down-the-road when we were kids and mom sold them at my aunt and uncle’s deli in Virginia. They didn’t stay on the shelf long. Customers began requesting more and more deliveries.

The cookies became a staple in my immediate family and soon our cousins, aunts, and uncles shared in the joy. To this day, when I savor the taste of the cookies’ flavors it immediately brings me back to happy times in my childhood.

Our parents surprised us with a beige boxer puppy when I was 11 years old, and we couldn’t help but notice that with her black and white spots she looked a little like one of my mother’s cookies. So of course, we named her Cookie.

We still reminisce about her and tell stories about her sweet demeanor and loving devotion to our family. She represented the warmth of the cookies well.

We hope that you will relish and delight in the cookies' delicious flavors too. So much that they create lasting memories just as they have done for so many others.

“From start to finish, working with Maureen was pleasant and stress free. The cookies for the restaurant were perfect and beyond what we could have imagined.”
